What computer science can offer to you
You signed up for TIK, so you already show more than the average student's interest in computer science. But what about long-term prospects? What can you do with computer skills after you finish your education? Here's one place you can get some ideas about careers:

(I know this is early to begin talking about careers, but I just stumbled across this website this morning and wanted to pass it on to you before it slips my mind. You can come back and check it out later in the year.)
By the way, you don't spend the rest of your life in a cubicle staring at a monitor. There are a LOT more options.

Welcome to TIK
Welcome to your first course in computer science.
We start with a little background information from the Norton textbook.
Then we begin to write programs, which I think is going give you quite a thrill. There's something about it, having that much control over the computer - it's just so cool/neat/awesome!
No matter how you react at the beginning, I know you're going to get a kick out of it when we learn how to do pixel graphics (Chapter 8 of the Turing textbook). Remember those screen savers I showed you from last year's students? You'll be able to do things like that. You can get as creative as you want using colours and designs and movement.
